YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB starts a new chapter with new single “Happy Again”
With her debut EP landing in early 2023, London-based, French-Cameroonian singer, songwriter and producer YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB has returned with the lead single from the project, “Happy Again”.
Accompanied by a music video directed by Sorin D Visuals, she combines indie, pop and alternative to offer a piece with emotional undertones that details a time during the pandemic when she felt lonely and isolated from friends and loved ones while she was living in Surrey.
“’Happy Again’ was the first song of the EP I came up with. I wrote it in the summer of 2021 while on holiday. I had just finished uni but the pandemic was at its peak in terms of restrictions and I was feeling very lonely and hopeless. The song kind of speaks for itself; at the time all I was longing for was my ‘normal’ life. I wanted to be able to see my friends again, make plans again, live again. Sonically the song is very 80s-inspired, and I think it matches perfectly with the nostalgia of the lyrics.” — YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB.
