It seems as though as every other week or so we either discover or stumble upon an outstanding emerging act from Scandinavia. Enter Norwegian rising pop star Torine, the 19 year-old made her breakthrough on Idol back in 2016 where she finished ninth in the competition and ended up building a rapport with the public in Norway. This led to her being picked up by the world renowned Norwegian DJ Alan Walker and set about making a similar mark as they did in their home land with tour dates throughout Italy and Spain.
Inspired by artists such as Zara Larsson and Astride S, the singer-songwriter wants to add something new and fresh to the Scandinavian pop flora, with songs that surprise as much as they comfort. On “Irresponsible” she exudes confidence with a brilliant vocal performance that’s both mesmerising and melodic — although it’s a full blown pop single, there’s sprinkles of R&B in there. Co-written with songwriters Alida and Inga, and produced by Daniel Løberg, Torine shines on the impressive debut single and also showcases her huge potential — she has a bright future ahead of her.
