Like most emerging artists, 2020 has been a challenging year— for 21 year-old singer, songwriter and producer Shaker, he’s taken well-needed breaks to heal from past traumas and deal with recent global events. In April he released the brilliant “Out of Love”, an emotionally-driven song sang from a position of pain. While Shaker himself (or anyone in particular), doesn’t deserve a broken heart, his experience with it led to this exceptional song which instantly connects with listeners who have been throughout it. His vocal performance is outstanding as always, as he sings about his feelings coming out of a serious relationship over a captivating production which gives us early Frank Ocean vibes. For many people, sometimes the best cure for a broken heart is to listen to sad or heartbreaking songs, and Shaker’s “Out of Love” is without a doubt the best cure— a beautifully written song with alluring melodies throughout that will make you feel better about your situation.
