tmdistant — got a lot on my chest

tmdistant channels frustration in angst-ridden new single “got a lot on my chest”

Produced by upstate New York producer Abare, 21 year-old Essex-based alternative artist tmdistant makes a striking return with his new single “got a lot on my chest”. The high-energy single dives into his struggles with creative pigeonholing, specifically tied to his racial identity.

With a dynamic fusion of post-punk energy and raw, emotive lyrics, the angst-ridden track stands out— delivering an engaging sonic experience while shedding light on societal and industry challenges encountered by black artists within the alternative music genres.

“As a black man, I am constantly boxed in by society or people. This song was me saying everything I needed to get off my chest before it all made me collapse and in the end, it got me. 2023 I was stuck in a hole of disbelief in myself and my work regardless of how hard I worked on it. I’m turning that around in 2024. It all starts with “got a lot on my chest.” — tmdistant

“got a lot on my chest” is the second single taken from his forthcoming debut EP due out this Spring. tmdistant also headlines Colours Hoxton on 27th March 2024. Tickets available here.
