tmdistant — fall out

tmdistant returns with angsty new single “fall out”

Having recently made his BBC Radio 1 debut with “i don’t need a therapist” on Alyx Holcombe’s Introducing Rock show, 19 year-old Essex, UK-based artist tmdistant returns with new single “fall out”, accompanied by a cinematic music video shot by Sorin D. Visuals.

On “fall out”, he invites us into his own personal world as he weaves emotionally-driven lyricism with angsty, impassioned vocal performance which allows him to connect with listeners. With its thrashing percussion, distorted guitars and anthemic chorus, “fall out” is a hard hitting track which sits somewhere between the rock and pop genres with a hint of alt-rap. Brilliantly produced by his go-to producer Abare, the track has been in the works for almost two years.

2022 has been a fairly successful year for the young artist— he headlined the world renowned Camden Assembly, garnered press attention from outlets such as AFROPUNK and more. However, tmdistant has had a lot of personal battles to deal with throughout the year. Often going quiet, and returning with an emotionally-driven track like “fall out”— a track which explores explores gaslighting in romantic relationships; a form of emotional manipulation that erodes the victim’s sanity, and you often don’t realise it’s happening to you until you’ve lost all sense of self.

“fall out is such an emotional song for me. It’s kinda explaining in real-time me going through the motions of dealing with being gaslighted for the first time and understanding what’s happening inside of me and my mind. Overcoming those obstacles and learning from them. Shedding my previous skin and coming to a realisation of who I’ve become over the past year. This song really resembles the emotions a person can feel when they overcome toxicity and being gaslighted by themselves or someone else.”tmdistant.
