Thandie Bomvu Rides The Emotional Waves Of A Toxic Relationship On “Fast Cars”

Although London-based singer-songwriter Thandie Bomvu hasn’t released an official single yet in her short career, the 19 year-old has already built a loyal fan base that continues to grow on a daily basis, as well as caught the attention of A&R’s on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to her highly regarded SoundCloud releases “Deja Vu” and “Love” — which have been supported by well-respected music platforms such as Fashionably Early and Lyrical Lemonade.

After spending the past four months working on new music to release next year, she’s back with another SoundCloud exclusive titled “Fast Cars” to keep her fans happy. Bomvu showcases her dynamic lyricism and alluring vocal abilities over a smooth and timeless R&B production with jazzy undertones as she tells the story of a toxic relationship with an ex who was an avid fan of cars.

“I wrote fast cars quite a long time ago, I was young, I mean still young, but I was in a relationship that was growing to be increasingly toxic on both sides. I had already been through quite a bit when it came to men and toxicity before this started to happen. It got to a point where I was like listen we need to make a decision because I don’t want you to hold you back in anyway this is becoming destructive but at the same time you’re gonna need to decide whether or not you’re gonna stay wasting my time because I won’t have it. I’ve been through the trust issues, you know this is hard for me so step up or step out…But all of that was basically happening in parallel to my feeling, dreams and everything I wanted for us and myself. He liked cars so that’s where the metaphor came in. He knows exactly who he is right now” — Thandie Bomvu
