Kohla recently released her debut EP FLUX, via Last Night From Glasgow.
Although the Edinburgh-based singer-songwriter Kohla is a graduate of the Edinburgh College of Arts and also a dancer, in recent months it’s been her music that has caught people’s attention. In December 2019, she performed her sold out debut visual live show which featured a full live band and backing dancers. This, along with positive coverage from numerous blogs such as ourselves, Stereofox, Acid Stag, Little Indie Blogs and more, generated a little buzz for her debut EP FLUX.
She cites artists such as Moby, Grimes, Kate Bush and FKA Twigs as her influences, and on FLUX, she effortlessly combines small pieces of their respective sounds to create a breathtaking electronic-centred alt pop project that has replay value. However, it’s her gorgeous vocal performance that truly shines throughout the four track EP, floating beautifully over each well-crafted music production. Overall, FLUX is a solid offering that strays away from the mainstream sound we’re often suffocated with, and it also showcases her potential to really take her music to the next level. Press play.
