Emerging London-based R&B/Soul artist Alichè unveils her debut EP Lockdown Sessions.
This lockdown has given many creatives and artists around the world an opportunity to really focus on their craft, songwriting and for those who are blessed with a home studio, release new music. London-based emerging artist Alichè has been creatively engaged cooking up some new tracks. Her 3 track EP Lockdown Sessions were all written and recorded during quarantine. Throughout the EP she showcases her talent and vocal prowess, which can be traced to her musical foundation in soul music.
“I wasted a lot of time seeking approval through external achievements, people’s praises and passively living life without real purpose. It’s so easy to get lost in a box, confined by society’s values, where we feel out of place and suffocated. I had so many questions, fuelled by a need to find myself behind the mask I was wearing. It wasn’t until I started to focus on the internal that I saw a clear path of how I wanted to live, the people I wanted around me, and the music I needed to speak through. I wrote this song not only for myself, but for the loved ones around me, to show acceptance of it all and to support them finding peace in their own skin” — Alichè.
And although lockdown may have cancelled countless opportunities she had lined up this summer (Isle of Wight Festival, support gigs etc), Alichè has created a solid EP worth a listen. The standout track “If This Ain’t You” proves she’s one of the best emerging and most slept on artists in the UK. Press play and add this to your playlists.
