Rising New York City indie pop singer, songwriter and producer Skyler Cocco unveils sensational new single “The Drive”.
Having started out as a demo for a Splice competition and only finished due to the encouragement of Naomi McPherson, producer and guitarist of MUNA, rising star Skyler Cocco’s new single “The Drive” is a captivating track which seamlessly blends indie-pop with sprinkles of electronic music. Although the song itself explores themes of insecurity and love within a relationship which many listeners will be able to connect to, there’s a euphoric vibe throughout the listen. Skyler’s vocal performance is breathtaking as she delivers one of the most infectious hooks you’ll hear this year built over a stunning production she co-produced with collaborative partner Zach Miller.
“I wrote ‘The Drive’ to reflect on a time where I’ve said things I didn’t mean to my partner or lashed out in a way that made them feel insecure in the relationship. The Drive is the cool down period after a fight, where you take some space to really let your own words resonate and see where you were wrong in a situation, and realize what you’re putting at stake by not changing those behaviors. I really wanted to write a love song that felt vulnerable and showed my true intentions, that I can hold myself accountable and change for someone who I wouldn’t want to live without” — Skyler Cocco.
