London-based artist Sharifa shares powerful new single “BEDROOM LIGHT”
Hailing from a small town in the East Midlands, 18 year-old London-based artist Sharifa makes his DNü debut with his stunning new single “BEDROOM LIGHT”. Sitting somewhere between alternative and hip-hop, the newcomer shares a compelling and honest take on navigating life’s challenges.
He’s been gaining a reputation as a courageous lyricist, and he showcases it well here. Overall, “BEDROOM LIGHT” is an impressive track with dark undertones, and it brilliantly touches on a topic that will resonate with most listeners.
“I wrote Bedroom Light when it was 2am in the morning. I was going through an unusual time of emotional struggle and uncertainty and was reflecting on that as I wrote the track. There’s a lot of self-reflection, hopelessness, stubbornness and introspection in the lyrics. I came to the conclusion that it’s okay to feel trapped by your surroundings and in your own head. I want people to know they aren’t alone in feeling that way. So many of our struggles are universal human experiences.” — Sharifa.
