Salty Licorice releases vibrant new single “Amare (p.87)”
Since her mysterious debut in August 2022, Swedish-Palestinian/Iraqi artist Soha Akile, has been capturing listeners attention with her mesmerising experimental sound. After her debut single “lavender blossom” gained a positive reception from listeners, she decided to keep pushing boundaries under the Salty Licorice moniker.
With only a handful of tracks to her name, her new single “Amare (p.87)”, brings a fresh twist to future pop. The song explores the early stages of a fleeting crush with her ethereal vocals blending perfectly with the electronic-centred production with Arabic influences. Co-written with Amanda Kongshaug, Mont Jake, Beatrice Jaksch, and Gabriel Pettersson, “Amare (p.87)” is a lush, evocative piece that feels both intimate and adventurous—a beautiful glimpse into the world Salty Licorice is building, one haunting track at a time.
“‘Amare’ started as a voice memo of musicians performing on the streets of Hamburg. We sampled the recording, which can be heard in the intro and outro. The sample helped set a playful tone for the production, which we later tied together with our vision of what Mata Hari’s prime time could have looked like.” — Salty Licorice.
