Rita Mae releases gorgeous new single “Big Star”
One of New Zealand’s most promising talents, Rita Mae, has already made waves this year with her standout releases “My Bad” and “Kiss The Sky”, two grunge-tinged alt-rock anthems that have racked up thousands of streams and earned her a growing fanbase— including us.
She’s back with another stellar track, “Big Star”, a more stripped-back offering co-written with and produced by NZ-born, LA-based songwriter and producer Leroy Clampitt (Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa, and Sabrina Carpenter). It’s the third single taken from her forthcoming EP Kiss The Sky which is set to drop on 8th November.
With “Big Star”, Rita Mae effortlessly showcases her versatility as an artist, unveiling a softer, more gentler side that lets her lyricism and melodies truly shine. The result is a stunning track that will resonate with dreamers everywhere.
“This is definitely the most stripped down track on the project, ‘Big Star’ is set in the future in a scenario where the main character has given up everything to chase a dream. It acts like ‘some kind of warning to myself’. Follow your dreams but at what cost? I love music. I want my whole life to be music. But I also want love and friendship and happiness and a million other things, and sometimes it feels like “chase your dreams” comes with “and sacrifice everything else!” — Rita Ma.
