Ormella — Why Do I Need You, Man?

London-based indie folk artist Ormella returns with stunning new single “Why Do I Need You, Man?”

Following the release of her debut EP STICK THE KNIFE IN, East London’s rising star Ormella makes a striking return with her new single “Why Do I Need You, Man?”. The emotionally driven track showcases her ability to blend raw vulnerability with haunting melodies, diving into the painful cycle of revisiting a past relationship.

The accompanying music video shot by Sean Rey in the atmospheric Epping Forest, adds a layer of visual storytelling that enhances the song’s melancholic mood. Featuring act Tom Hunter, the video creates a cinematic backdrop that mirrors the inners turmoil of continually returning to an ex. Ormella’s poignant lyrics and passionate delivery cement her as one of the most exciting new voices to watch.

“The song was written by myself 2 days before a recording session with my main collaborator Katie May in July of this year. I wrote it about the feeling of not being able to get enough of my ex, and wondering why – if we both love each other, why aren’t we together? Why has everything that we’ve gone through lead to us not being together? I think it’s for the best, with where I’m at now – but I still ask myself those questions. When recording it, It was the only time I’ve actually really broken down in the studio before, and I think you can really hear that raw emotion in the vocal delivery. At the time I thought I might be on the verge of getting back with my ex so the hope that I felt from the production that Katie made was so healing and heartbreaking at the same time.”Ormella.
