London-based singer-songwriter Ormella returns with her gorgeous new single “Choke” — an indie-folk ballad that delves into the complexities of love and the struggle of letting go when a relationship reaches its inevitable end. Following the success of her debut single, “Never’s a Promise”, which has already garnered over 27,000 streams on Spotify since its released in mid-April, Ormella continues to captivate listeners with her raw honesty and heartfelt storytelling.
“On the surface, ‘Choke’ has an empowered, confident sound — like I’ve made the firm decision to let the dust settle on a relationship and walk away from it. But, really, it’s like a mirror that I’m looking into when singing the song. The lyrics reveal me having an honest conversation with myself. I needed to tell myself to let go… it never really felt like my choice to leave. The song is me coming to terms with the fact that as much as I may have wanted the relationship to work, I had to accept its end.” — Ormella.
