Newcomer LVRA has unveiled her brand new single “Girl Like Me”, accompanied with music video.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland to Chinese parents, 20year-old singer, songwriter and producer Rachel Lu started making music as a teenager, writing angsty songs at the piano at her parents’ home. She settled with the moniker LVRA (pronounced loo-rah) and began producing her own songs towards the end of 2017.
Her latest single “Girl Like Me”, taken from her upcoming debut EP, is an impressive follow up to “u should be in love with me”. According to LVRA. the song is a celebration of love — she wrote it as she embarked upon a blossoming new relationship.
“It’s the first song I’ve written that’s come from pure happiness. I was at a point when I was happier than ever – I was super independent and focusing on my friends, and studying and making music. I didn’t think it was possible for me to want something more, because I never felt like anything was missing from my life. Turns out being in love when you’re truly happy feels ways better” — LVRA.
Her vocal performance is excellent, as she delivers a delightful song that will instantly connect with listeners who can relate to the lyrics. The music video was directed by Antonio Perricone and Luke Wintour, and it cleverly mixes every scenes with more fantastical flights of fantasy.
