Brixton, London-based trio kid apollo release new single “all on me”
Consisting of twin brothers (and producers) Felix and Theo Ratigan and singer/producer Jimmy HM, Brixton-based trio kid apollo combine lo-fi R&B and alternative hip-hop to create introspective songs that often detail teenage life in London, as well as the darker side of the city’s nightlife. Accompanied by a self-directed music video, the trio are back with new single “all on me”. Co-produced with Dom Valentino (Skepta, Dexter, NAYANA IZ), it’s their first release since their 2021 debut EP all i think about.
“‘‘all on me’ is just me talking about how the small things can affect and influence one another when you’re talking to someone. Quickly, these small things start to seem much bigger than they should be, but that’s neither person’s fault. The song for us just felt like a good way of expressing this without it feeling too serious, which things way too often do.” — kid apollo.
Taken from their forthcoming second EP, which is due out this winter via Sweat Entertainment, “all on me” sees Jimmy wrestle with teenage angst— heartfelt and raw lyrics, he details his tendency to “overthink all the time”. The track is another excellent addition to their growing body of alternative, forward-thinking R&B.
