London-based alternative R&B artist John Alone returns with new single “PACKSONME”
London-based alternative R&B artist John Alone has made a triumphant return after an extended musical hiatus. He has been relatively quiet for some time since dropping his last project Scared Money, an EP that received editorial and radio support from the likes of Ones to Watch, DUMMY, Jamz Supernova, BBC 1Xtra, and more.
Produced by Flynn Rider of rarefield, John Alone’s smooth rap-sung vocals effortlessly flow over the silky, bass-heavy production. Lyrically, the song is about taking risks. The song encapsulates the often unfortunate reality of the choices we make when pushed to our limits, and the kind of strength these choices can inspire.
Filmed in and around Thamesmead’s stark, brutalist estates, the accompanying music video shot by Jafar Aly, and directed by John Alone and frequent collaborator TM JoJo, is a visual testament to camaraderie inspired by shared lived experiences.
FFO: 6LACK, Frank Ocean, Khalid etc.
