“’like a clown’ is about not being taken seriously, it was written after a time where I felt like the music I was making was being satirised by the people around me. I felt like I had to play into a character and subsequently being something that I was not meant for my creative output suffered. ‘like a clown’ is about disarming those feelings by embracing being name-calling. I wrote the whole song in a couple of hours, then finished it off in NYC. The process gave me a lot of creative liberation so I feel like I got the last laugh.” — joey maxwell.
