It’s our favourite day of the week— New Music Friday! Fresh Sounds is back after a two month break, and below are some of our favourite songs released this week. Make sure you follow our main playlist THE NÜ for our weekly updates
flowerkid x KUČKA — It’s Happening Again
With its stunning vocals, captivating electronic production which reminds us of Chase & Status, relatable lyrics and infectious melodies, “It’s Happening Again”, a collaboration by Australian artists flowerkid and KUČKA is one of the best songs we’ve heard this year.
lilyisthatyou — FMRN
Our friend and the carefree Canadian rising star lilyisthatyou recently went viral on TikTok when she posted a snippet of this electronic-centred pop banger, “FMRN”. The singles out now, and we dare you to play this out loud. Go on!
Lolo Zouaï — Galipette
French-Algerian rising star Lolo Zouaï made a triumphant return this week with the captivating pop/R&B banger “Galipette”— play it out LOUD.
HEX — OUTBREAK
HEX has been consistently dropping hit after hit, but still remains underrated here in the UK. “OUTBREAK” is another track that showcases his songwriting and melodic raps.
Calabasas — First Time Thing
“First Time Thing” is a solid offering which combines pop, rap and some elements of soul.
Tanerélle — Good Good
Tanerélle should really be much bigger than she is right now— but people stay sleeping. She has the look, the branding, and most importantly, a breathtaking voice. “Good Good” is a smooth R&B cut with late night vibes.
Boy Destroy — Light It Up, Put It Out
Swedish artist Boy Destroy returns with another solid offering, “Light It Up, Put It Out”. Once again, it’s difficult to box him into one genre, as he effortlessly infuses pop, R&B, indie and some elements of hip-hop here.
Anuka — Open Invitation
Blessed with one of the most gorgeous voices in music today, Dutch singer, songwriter and producer Anuka continues to bless us. And today we’re blessed with “Open Invitation”— a smooth R&B blessing to our ears. Add this to your playlists, and have a very blessed day.
