London-based Haitian singer-songwriter Flowery Beard shares new single “Mawon”, taken from his debut EP.
Having caught our attention last year with the excellent “Overdose”, Flowery Beard has been on our radar ever since. The eclectic artist was born in Haiti, then he immigrated to France at the age of 10, and now he’s currently based in London, where he’s been working on his art and his debut EP Mawon. Although the four track EP doesn’t reveal much about the artist, it gives listeners an intimate experience of a universe in which he effortlessly combines jazz, hip-hop and afrobeat. The focus track “Mawon” is a beautiful piece of music reminiscent of another great Haitian musician, Wyclef Jean. Inspired by artists such as Bob Marley, Frank Ocean and Kanye West, and singing in both English and French, he’s delivered another stunning song well worth a listen, and one you should listen to with an open mind.
