Erin LeCount releases emotionally-driven new single “Bday Blues”
For someone so young and still new to the music game, emerging Essex-based singer, songwriter and producer Erin LeCount sounds so wise beyond her age. Inspired by the cinematic, dreamy and experimental, and influenced by artists like Fiona Apple, Lorde, The XX, Florence + The Machine, Lana del Rey, FKA Twigs and Sampha, she’s known for her innovative, ethereal, alternative pop which is filled with synths, layered vocals and an atmospheric vibe.
Her latest offering “Bday Blues” released via Good as Gold Records proves why she’s one of the most promising emerging artists around today. Its dreamy vibe and her hauntingly beautiful vocals instantly draws you in as she sings about feeling empty around the time of her birthday. Overall, this is a stunning emotionally-driven track that will evoke feelings of sadness, as well as joy.
“BDAY BLUES” is about the feeling of growing pains, nostalgia, changing as a person (not knowing if it’s for the better or worse) and dreading not being seventeen anymore. It’s for the people like me who struggle around the time of their birthday or the dark, dull late January kind of empty feeling. I started writing “BDAY BLUES” on my 18th birthday during lockdown, as that day felt more like a time of grief for who I used to be, rather than a day of celebration.” — Erin LeCount.
Erin LeCount headlines our first of two gigs at Colours Hoxton this April. Tickets are available to purchase here.
