Hull-based singer, songwriter and rapper Downtown Kayoto drops fourth and final single of the year “ROX”.
Despite 2020 being a difficult year for many emerging artists, Downtown Kayoto has had a fairly good year releasing well-received singles such as “Feels Like” and “Do Better”. He’s back with his fourth and final single of the year titled “ROX”— another stellar release which effortlessly combines multiple genres such as alternative R&B, hip-hop and indie music. There’s catchy melodies and exceptional lyricism throughout, Kayoto’s vocal performance is once again breathtaking as previous releases, and also in the same lane as the likes of 6LACK, Khalid and Australian artist/producer BLESSED. With four strong singles and already being championed by Huw Stephens, Jessie Ware, Reprezent Radio, Before the Data and more, Downtown Kayoto has what it takes to go all the way to the top. Expect big things in 2021.
“I made this track inspired to talk about all the things in my life that I could just deep way too seriously and stress over and to combat this I thought it would be cool to talk about them, and just be honest. I could drown in the waves but at this point I want to fight it and survive— also it just felt right to release this” — Downtown Kayoto.
