London-based newcomer darcey beth returns with new single “Nothing to Me”
After taking some time off her solo career to play bass for artists like Siobhan Winifred, Eaves Wilder and Lexie Carroll, London-based newcomer darcey beth has made a stunning return as a solo artist with her new single “Nothing to Me”. The track dives into a lush blend of dreamy shoegaze and pop, drawing inspiration from the ethereal soundscapes of Slowdive, whom she caught live at festivals last summer. Recorded in November 2023 with her friend Tiger in a living room setting, the song’s raw and intimate vibe adds to its captivating charm.
“I wrote ‘Nothing to Me’ with my friend after watching shoegaze band Slowdive over the summer and becoming obsessed with those types of sounds. The whole song plays with the idea of trying to stay cool about things when really you want someone to admit their feelings to you. Nothing to Me is a love song in very few words.” — darcey beth.
Her dreamy vocals flow over the gritty bassline and dreamy layers of guitar, creating a soundscape that’s both immersive and haunting. When we first saw darcey perform at one of our gigs a few years back, it was clear she had something special. With “Nothing to Me”, she delivers on her early promise and establishes herself as one of the most captivating emerging voices in the indie music scene.
