Courtney Paige Nelson releases “Senses”, taken from her new EP Fever Dream.
In 2020 singer, songwriter and mental health advocate Courtney Paige Nelson burst onto the scene with three revealing songs about mending a broken heart, her experience in and out of treatment for attempting to take her own life, and in the end, having the strength to ultimately save herself. An inspiring artist with a powerful story who took a bit of an unconventional path to music— her life is somewhat similar to a movie where an individual goes through adversity and eventually triumphs. Taken from her new EP Fever Dream, the focus track “Senses” is a beautifully-written song built over a compelling pop production. Nelson delivers a melodic and passionate vocal performance that instantly draws you in. Overall, this is an impressive song by someone with no musical background. “I wrote this about the senses and how they get triggered when you leave someone or experience a tough loss. So, each section contains something about sight, taste, touch, sound. Everything you feel during loss and how it can trigger emotions or even physical feelings. The smell of someone cologne/perfume making the hair on your neck stand up. Or a rush of a memory coming back because you smelled something that is attached to a memory of them. The sound of a song you listened to on a drive with them in the car and the rush of emotions that envelope you. Hearing someone’s name that is the same name as your ex or the person you lost, and how it makes all your feelings come rushing back. All our senses have memories attached to them, which is why I wrote this song” — Courtney Paige Nelson.
