LA-based singer-songwriter BEL returns with stunning new single “Are You Okay?”
Hailing from the small town of Clovis, California, LA-based singer-songwriter BEL writes and performs nostalgic songs with honesty and attention to detail which combine indie, folk and pop and take inspiration from artists like Steve Nicks, Joni Mitchell and Mazzy Star.
Last year she not only released our favourite song of 2023, “PBR” with girlhouse, she was also our most played artist according to our Spotify Wrapped. As one of our artists to watch this year, we’ve been anticipating her new release. Teaming up with producer Sean Silverman (Beach Weather), she’s delivered a stunning new single titled “Are You Okay?”.
The upbeat indie rock song sees BEL consoling a friend who’s in a rocky relationship. It’s catchy as well as relatable, and it also marks the start of a new era for the talented artist— she has crafted a new visually striking and colourful visual identity with SJ Spreng. Accompanied by a visualiser which shows flashes of her infectious personality, BEL proves she’s one of the most promising emerging artists around today.
“I wrote this song for a friend of mine going through a rough patch with her new partner. It was coming from a place of love, making sure she was being true to herself, and questioning if he was the best person for her. I’m also asking myself if I’m okay…okay with being alone when it seems like everyone around me has someone.” — BEL.
