Emerging artist Artan addresses mental health struggles on “Cycles”.
North London’s Artan has developed into one of the UK’s most exciting artists within the alt-rap scene, which is one of the most thriving music scenes in the world right now. His melodic raps and thought-provoking lyrics has helped him gain a cult following, and the outstanding track “Cycles” taken from his new EP Scattered Thoughts has the potential to turn him into a star. Built over a melancholic guitar-infused production by Kilo Victor, the rising star explores themes of mental health on the infectiously catchy track. The accompanying music video directed by Eric Myers shows a lone Artan in a dark room, on a bed surrounded by books and a mic— a perfect imagery of many independent artists who have been struggling with mental health during this pandemic. With its relatable content and simple but effective music video, Artan has dropped one of the best releases of the year and one that will live on many listeners playlists for years to come.
