Cameroonian-Danish alt-R&B artist Allen Anjeh releases new single “Once In A Million”
Born and raised in Kumba, Cameroon, Allen Anjeh has lived in Copenhagen, Denmark since she was 12 years-old. She grew up listening to everything from 90’s hip-hop such Nas, Biggie and 50 Cent, to Cameroonian makossa music and Michael Jackson. Her own music combines neo soul and R&B with sprinkles of pop, African elements and jazz. Today, she makes her DNü debut with her stunning new single “Once In A Million”— the second track taken from her forthcoming 5-track debut EP set for release in August.
Co-written with London-based Nigerian artist/produced AZEKEL, and the follow up to her debut single “Rising Sun”, the track delivers a stunning meld of progressive electronics and percussive beats that push through the sonic boundaries of R&B, to nestle firmly in the soul camp. Her vocals are soulful as well as breathtaking— flowing beautifully over the captivating production and instantly sticking with listeners. Accompanied by a visually striking music video directed by Manu Loca, the emerging artist has dropped one of the best releases of the month.
“Once in A Million” is about relationships that feel one-sided and never reciprocated. One of those relationships or friendships where you feel like you’re continually making sacrifices and the other person just sits back and takes full advantage of you.” — Allen Anjeh.
